Uno de los indicios que se aporta a la causa hace referencia a un fragmento del reportaje publicado en ‘Interviú’ en el que se afirma: “El sargento Angleton
(el Gran Maestre)
Fred V. Angleton died on November 4, 2021 at the age of 87 surrounded by those who adored him. Fred enlisted in the US Navy in 1951 upon high school graduation. He served as a machinist mate on the USS Hamner during the Korean conflict. He often said that the Navy was where he discovered his first love which was service to others. In 1953, Fred married his greatest love, Vivien, who was up for an adventure. He left the Navy after four years and started a career in the oil industry. Fred and his family were tras*ferred to multiple states over seven years. Finally, in 1967, Fred met his third love when he was tras*ferred to Alaska. When the company asked that they move back to the lower 48, Fred vowed to keep his family in Alaska. After spending a year working several jobs, Fred found an opportunity to connect his love of Alaska and his love of service by becoming an Alaska State Trooper. After completing the academy, he served in Anchorage and then was tras*ferred to Talkeetna, where Vivien functioned as the civilian dispatcher and his two sons learned all of the call codes. He and Vivien were then stationed in Nome, eventually tras*ferring to Soldotna where he retired with the rank of First Sargent in 1987. Upon retirement and until his death he had a private investigation business in Soldotna.
Throughout his life, Fred was a devoted member of the Masonic and Shrine fraternities serving as Grand Master of Alaska in 1987 and Potentate of Alaska in 1994. He held numerous offices in many other Masonic entities. He was particularly devoted to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital mission and served on the board of the hospital in Portland, Oregon. He and Vivien actively raised funds to support the hospital and in particular worked diligently to assure that Alaska children and their families had tras*portation support to travel to the Shriner Hospitals. He was engaged with friends and family throughout his life, including a regular trip to Las Vegas that began with his honeymoon. As recently as September, 2021 he was in Vegas. He would say he was there “raising money for the Shrine.” He will be greatly missed by his friends, family and community.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah of Oregon, Fred II [Rusty] (and Janey) of California and Thomas (and Celeste) of Alaska. He has three living grandchildren: Jonus, Rachel and Bronson and ten greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved Vivien, grandson Jacoby Angleton and two great grand-daughters. Services will be at the Kenai Shrine Club 47445 W Poppy Lane, Soldotna, on Saturday, 11/13/2021 at 2:00 pm. There will be a private Masonic tribute at 1:00 pm. Although there is not a mask mandate due to el bichito-19, masks can be worn at your option. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family tras*portation fund of the Al Aska Shrine Temple 1930 E Northern Lights Anchorage AK 99508.
