Antarctica was warmer one thousand years ago — and life was OK
A new paper looks at 60 sites across Antarctica, considering everything from ice, lake and marine cores to peat and seal skins. They were particularly interested in the Medieval Warm Period, and researched back to 600AD. During medieval times (1000-1200 AD) they estimate Antarctica as a whole was hotter than it is today. Antarctica was even warmer still — during the dark ages circa 700AD.
Yet another study illustrates that the Medieval Warming Period was not regional, but global
This new study shows it also occurred in South America, and adds to the growing body of southern hemisphere locations. as we can see in this map below, note the red markers where it was warmer than normal.

The vast majority of land sites in Africa show characteristic warming during the Medieval Climate Anomaly, in line with similar warming in Europe and North America.

Michael Mann, and others, in their zeal to cover up warming periods of the past, to make it look like his hockey stick is “unprecedented”, won’t like this paper. They also won’t like this map showing over 1000 studies and their results.

The climate industry likes to pretend that the Little Ice Age was just a local event in Europe, but studies like this one give the lie to that.
Interestingly this Tyson study also includes graphs of historical temperature trends in other parts of the world, for comparison. They all clearly show the MWP and Little Ice Age, although the peaks and troughs don’t always match.
Evidence of the Medieval Warm Period in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania
Results are now available for Africa, Antarctica and Australia/Oceania. In the ***owing, we want to present our findings for Australia/Oceania, hoping for reader feedback on additional studies or alternative interpretations. Up to now we have identified 15 study locations in the region.
