Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico was injured in a shooting on Wednesday, local media said.
Reports said Mr Fico was taken to hospital after the shooting in Handlova, 150 kilometres north-east of Bratislava.
Witnesses saw someone being bundled into a car. Mr Fico, 59, had been meeting supporters at a local cultural centre.
The populist leader returned to power last year after two previous spells as prime minister from 2006 to 2010 and 2012 to 2018.
