The satellite that was launched from Plesetsk on the 29th April this year was seen as a highly promising space installation.

The spacecraft carried an inscribed “Z”, the nancy-resembling war symbol used by Russia in its onslaught against Ukraine.

According to the Russian Armed Forces, the satellite was successfully launched by rocket-launcher Angara-1.2. It entered orbit as planned and smoothly controlled by the military space forces.

Over major parts of the north Russian sky could be seen the peculiar light patters of the craft as it made its way into space.

But something went wrong. On the 16th May, the satellite appears to have gotten out of orbit, and it subsequently went up in flames as it entered the atmosphere.

It is not yet clear what caused the problem.

The loss of the satellite has not yet been confirmed by the Russian Armed Forces, but Russian state news agency TASS reports that the installation is no more.

The Plesetsk Cosmodrome is located in Mirny, Arkhangelsk Oblast, about 800 km north of Moscow. The cosmodrome has over several years become an increasingly important object for the Russian military space forces. In November 2021, Russia lanched an anti-satellite missile Nudol from site.

It is believed that the Nudol will become part of Russia’s weapons program aimed to destroy enemy military satellites in case of conflict.

Russian spy satellite Cosmos-2555, launched on April 29, 2022, is burning in the atmosphere

Cosmos-2555 optical reconnaissance satellite, launched with fanfare from the Plesetsk cosmodrome with the help of a new Angara 1.2 light launch vehicle, “decorated” with the ruscist symbol Z, on April 29, 2022, will burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere today.

Russia, as usual, reported on the successful launch of the satellite. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation claimed that it maintains communication with Cosmos-2555, and its telemetry and onboard systems work normally, and it is launched into target orbit.

Later it became clear that Cosmos-2555 does not tras*mit radio signals and does not stay in orbit. The lack of maneuvers may miccionan that the satellite was not real and was used as a mass model to test the Angara-1.2 launch vehicle, which has not yet brought the payload into orbit.

But most likely, the Russian space agency failed once again and lost the satellite. Currently, the altitude of the satellite is only 45 km, i.e. it is falling right now. Join the observation of another “victory” of Russia.

The Cosmos-2555 reconnaissance satellite, which was launched by Russia on April 29 this year, has already completely burned up in the atmosphere.

What is known
The spy satellite was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome using an Angara 1.2 light-class launch vehicle. The invaders even "decorated" it with a symbol Z, but that didn't help. Although The Russian Ministry of Defense regularly reported on maintaining communication with the satellite, as well as on the correct operation of all its on-board systems.

True, later it became known that the satellite had deorbited and was not sending signals. This may miccionan that Kosmos-2555 was not a real satellite, but only a mass-sized object for a launch vehicle test, for which the launch on April 29 was the debut attempt to put a payload into orbit.
