The Wire star Michael K. Williams 'may have overdosed on fentanyl', police report says
The acclaimed American actor was tragically found dead by a relative on Monday and was just 54-years-old when he passed away. Police are investigating the circumstances of his death.
Tragic Michael K. Williams may have died of a fentanyl overdose inside his Brooklyn penthouse on Monday, reports have suggested.
The actor was found dead at the age of 54-years-old on Monday – with a nephew reportedly discovering his body at the actor’s home and ‘surrounded by drugs paraphernalia’.
As details emerge of The Wire actor’s death, new police reports have suggested that authorities are hunting a drug dealer that they believe may have supplied Michael with narcotics.
While there have been reports and speculation about the cause of the actor’s death, a post-mortem is yet to be conducted to confirm his cause and manner of death.

NBC New York on Tuesday claimed: “Two senior NYPD officials told News 4 that drug paraphernalia was discovered in the apartment and that Williams may have overdosed on fentanyl.”
Fentanyl is a powerful opioid which is used as a pain medication and is known to be highly addictive due to potency.
While the drug is similar to morphine, it is reported as being as high as 50 to 100 times stronger, and can cause death if mixed with other substances or if too high a dose is administered.
Meanwhile, TMZ has reported that police are hunting a drug dealer in connection with Michael’s death.

Their report states: “NYPD detectives are conducting an investigation into the origin of the narcotics cops found at the site of the actor's death over the weekend” – and adds that the drugs in question are “heroin-based”.
The report said that the actor’s death had “triggered a criminal investigation” and that: "cops are trying to locate the drug dealer.”
The acting world was shocked by the news of Michael’s death.
