Four Belarusian volunteer fighters killed in Ukraine (yahoo.com)
Four Belarusian volunteer fighters of the Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment, which consists of Belarusian nationals helping defend Ukraine against the Russian invasion, have been killed in battle, the regiment said in a Telegram post on July 31.
The volunteers served in the regiment’s two infantry battalions, Litvin and Volat.
“The Litvin Battalion and Volat Battalion have suffered losses,” the message said.
“Four of our heroes have died. We are in contact with the families and loved ones of the deceased.”
The call signs and names of the fighters are not disclosed out of safety concerns.
"Together with the entire Belarusian people, the Kalinoŭski Regiment mourns these losses –victims in the war for the independence of Ukraine and Belarus," the message reads.
In conclusion, the regiment added that its fighters will continue resisting Russia’s imperial ambitions.
The Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment, numbering around 1,500 people, is made up of foreign volunteers, mostly from Belarus, who emigrated after the protests against the Lukashenko regime in 2020. It was created in March 2022 to fight against invading Russian forces in Ukraine. There are also citizens of Lithuania in the ranks of the regiment.
