Eco-warriors who glued themselves to the floor of a Volkswagen factory in Germany pleaded for medical treatment because their hands were sore and moaned that they couldn’t go to the toilet. The nine activists from the campaign group "Scientist Rebellion" have been arrested after they broke into Autostadt, a museum and car showroom run by Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, Germany.
The eco-protestors glued themselves to the floor of a pavilion of Porsche cars and demanded the German government impose maximum speed limits of 62mph.
But when staff from the museum left for the day, leaving the activists inside, they complained that they had no food and there was no heating and lighting.
One of the protesters, Gianluca Grimalda, who said he was on hunger strike, said: "They refused our request to provide us with a bowl to urinate and defecate in a decent manner while we are glued, and have turned off the heating.

"We can't order our food, we must use the one provided by Volkswagen. Lights off. Random unannounced checks by security guards with bright torches."
Mr Grimalda agreed to leave the premises for medical treatment just a day after the demonstration began and was arrested.
He complained his hand, which he has superglued to the floor, was swollen with medics warning of an increased risk of blood clots.
He said: “Doctors ascertained the possibility of life-threatening blood clots in my hand and recommended an immediate tras*fer to a hospital.
